As an MP I deal with a wide variety of issues and it can sometimes be difficult for constituents to. I want to ensure that I do all that I can to make this a little clearer for you and therefore please see below some examples of ways in which I can help:

  • ï'§ I will work my hardest to ensure that the voice of the people in the North East particularly the Redcar constituency are being fully represented and that your interests and needs are being represented in the House of Commons and in turn raising particular issues with the relevant Ministers.
  • ï'§ If you are having problems with local issues such as housing, education, anti-social behaviour, unemployment or health, or are experiencing difficulties with benefits, asylum, visa applications or pensions, I can usually do something to solve your problem and I am happy to do so.
  • ï'§ I can contact the parliamentary ombudsman on your behalf should you have a complaint of maladministration regarding any Government Agency (a department, an executive agency or a quango)
  • ï'§ I can also contact the local government ombudsman if you have a complaint about the maladministration of a local council. ** Ombudsmen do not deal with problems relating to policy (politicians do that), they only deal with errors of administration (delays, poor decision-making), which have damaged or affected individuals personally.
  • ï'§ Where national and local government come together to provide resources and deliver services, I can collaborate with local councillors to achieve faster and better results in resolving problems.
  • ï'§ I have a strong head for Business and training given my previous work experiences and I am always welcome to meet with local businesses to offer my expertise and support. It is also beneficial for me and my team to have a good knowledge of local businesses and organisations so feel free to contact us to introduce yourselves.
  • ï'§ I will welcome your views on any local or national issue. Your views are important to me and they can help to shape Liberal Democrats policy and raise awareness on issues so small that I can push for government action.
  • ï'§ My team fortunately have a good knowledge of local voluntary and charitable organisations that may be able to offer you support and guidance and we welcome contact from anyone who would like us to point them in the right direction.

If you are a resident of the Redcar constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
