Early day motions (EDMs) are formal motions submitted for debate in the House of Commons.

MPs can create EDM's themselves as well as add their names to those put forward by other MPs.

In practice they are very rarely debated but they are a good measure of support for a particular issue or campaign and can help raise publicity of an issue.

** As long as they are consistent with both Lib Dem and my personal principles I am quite happy to sign motions when constituents, businesses and organisations ask me to do so **

The current list of EDMs can be viewed by following the link below.

If you are a resident of the Redcar constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
