Redcar MP says we MUST resolve Coroner issues

Local Redcar MP, Ian Swales has today held a very constructive meeting with Mr Sheffield, the Chief Coroner and his deputy, Mr Eastwood.

Ian said ''I am glad I have had the chance to speak to both the Chief Coroner and his deputy today. It was a very productive meeting where I had the opportunity to raise concerns about the service and discuss potential solutions in detail. It is going to require a multi -agency solution to fix this problem.''

''What I want to do is make sure that we resolve this for the people who have been affected by this system. Many families are waiting more than a year to hear the results of inquests on their loved ones, and no one should wait that long in what are inevitably difficult times.''

''I intend to follow up on some of these matters with Cleveland Police, as well as bang together the heads of all the agencies to resolve this. I am sure that my fellow Teesside MP's will join forces with me to ensure that we get a positive outcome for all those involved. ''

The issues surrounding the Teesside Coroner's office have rumbled on for over a decade, with many agencies and politicians all trying to resolve the matter.

If you are a resident of the Redcar constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
