Swales to meet Chief Coroner on Teesside
Local Redcar MP, Ian Swales, is meeting with the Chief Coroner and his deputy in a bid to resolve some of the timing issues that people across Teesside are facing.
Following on from Ian's question to the Minister for Justice, Jonathan Djanogly MP, Ian has managed to secure a meeting with the Chief Coroner to ask what exactly is going on across Teesside. The Teesside Coroner has been subject to complaints in the past, and on average, Teesside families are waiting 43 weeks for a verdict, which is far longer when the national average is just 29 weeks.
Commenting Ian said: ''People have genuine concern surrounding the length of time that families are waiting to hear how their loved ones died, and I am looking forward to talking face to face with Mr Sheffield and hope that we can begin to take steps towards resolving this matter.''
