Swales welcomes Chancellor's Enterprise Zone Announcement

August 17, 2011 1:05 PM

Commenting on todays' announcement by Chancellor George Osborne that Redcar constituency is to get three sites as part of the Tees Valley Enterprise Zone, Ian said:

''This is fantastic news for our area. There will be three Enterprise Zones in my constituency alone, which is great for encouraging local investment and for the area as a whole. Tees Valley Unlimited predict that these three zones will create over 13,000 much needed jobs during their lifetime. ''

''This just proves that, alongside the £23m already awarded to my constituency under the Regional Growth Fund, the Government are really backing the people of Redcar and Cleveland. It is good to see a Government focus on the particular needs of Teesside, which are widely recognised as different to the rest of the North East and have often been overlooked in the past. ''

The sites, which will offer favourable business terms to encourage investment in the area, will be located at Kirkleatham Business Park, Wilton International and South Bank Wharf.

If you are a resident of the Redcar constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
